Just weeks after both schools agreed to a football co-op, Mott-Regent and New England found themselves matched up against each other in the third place game of the Region 7 Boys Basketball Tournament.
Early on it seemed as though the Region 7 quarterfinal matchup was going to be a drubbing for New England at the hands of Hettinger/Scranton.
By COLE BENZ | Herald Editor | email@example.com It took an overtime period, but Mott/Regent defeated the Cougars from Heart River 67-60 to advance to the quarterfinals in the Region 7 Tournament.
The Mott/Regent Wildfire and New England Tigers both lost their respective semifinal match up, which sets them up to go head to head with a Region 7 tournament third-place finish on the line.
It was a defensive game all around, and the leads changed after every quarter.
