Slope County readies for 99th Farmers Fair

The Slope County Farmers Fair will start Aug. 23 with the class exhibits, but it will be ending with a bang when the rodeo starts two days later.
But the online entries for the NDRA-sanctioned rodeo will open Aug. 16 for three days until Monday at 8 p.m. (MT). Regular entries will be only Monday (Aug. 19) from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m., with call backs Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Entry fees will be $50 for each event and per man in team roping.
The first day will have exhibits being judged and the beer gardens opening at 6 p.m.
The second day will start at 8:30 a.m. with the 4-H Livestock Show, followed by the 4-H Round Robin Showmanship and Round Robin Pet Show.
The booths will open at 10 a.m., followed by the bounce house and Treasure Island at noon.
At 1 p.m. Saturday, there will be an open 4D barrel race along with a cornhole tournament.
The Virgil and Ben Hiller Memorial Horseshoe tournament will start at 3 p.m., with the rib cookoff and the supper kicking off at 5 p.m.
Saturday evening there will be a fair show, followed by a rodeo Calcutta and Mud Butte Band performing in the band shelter.
On Sunday, the fair will continue with a 9 a.m. Rodeo Slack and a 10 a.m. ecumenical service.
The 4-H Parade of Champions will be 11:15 a.m., followed by the Livestock sale at noon.
The NDRA/Slope Summer Circuit Rodeo will begin at 1:30 p.m.
The exhibits will close at 4 p.m. when the raffle will be held.
Following the rodeo, there will be a pig roast and a sweet corn supper.
