Early July storm drops large hail

A severe thunderstorm left behind large souvenirs when it left Hettinger County July 2.
According to photos posted on skyspyphotos.com, hail nearly the size of golf balls fell two miles south of Regent during the brief but powerful thunderstorm.
The storm also caused the National Weather Service to issue a brief tornado warning as the storm rolled across the southern edge of the state.
The warning was issued shortly after 4 p.m. with predictions of hail possibly as large as two inches in diameter.
There were reports of several areas being damaged by the hail near Regent and Mott.
