All-star time for local athletes

There will be a pair of Hunters on the field Saturday when the the East meets West in the annual Shrine game for state bragging rights and to raise money for the Shriners Childrens Hospitals.
Hunter Crist and Hunter Koepplin will be playing in the East-West Shrine Game July 13 in Grand Forks. In addition, Josh Wallace will give the Wildfire three players on the all-star squad.
North Salem/Almont and Beach also have three players on the West squad.
The 11-man contest will start at 4 p.m. Saturday at Cushman Field in Grand Forks, followed by the 9-man contest at 7 p.m.


Perkins plays Monday
Former Mott-Regent basketball star Perkins instead will be on the Class B all-star squad which will take on the top talent from the Class A Division in the 2019 Lions all-star game Monday at Bismarck Legacy High School, then play again Tuesday at West Fargo High School. Both games start at 8 p.m. local time.
In addition to Perkins, the Class B team will include Cadyn Schwabe of Thompson, Hayden Overby of Thompson,  Luke Tupa of Larimore, Mason Hedberg of Bishop Ryan, Ben Bohl of Bishop Ryan, Seth Hetzel of Stanley, Isaac Undlin of Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood, Austin Molan of Ellendale, Michael Two Hearts of Dunseith, Dalton Albrecht of Grafton and Macauley Young of Shiloh Christian.
The head coach for the B team is Brandy George of Thompson, with the assistant coach being Brad Miller of Bismarck Shiloh Christian.
