“Home, home on the range”, was the theme song for a few New England FFA members this week
By Brenna Wert
Grace Dinius, Katie and William Schmidt, Brenna Wert (me), and Kayla and Leah Ehlis all spent the week at Range Camp. Throughout the week we practiced and learned new skills on plant identification and ecological site judging.
Waking up early and hiking through the dewy badlands, playing in the dirt, and picking plants may not sound fun to everyone, but to us range judgers, that’s just the start to a wonderful day.
We also participated in a camp competition against our fellow campers. We studied and tested here and there throughout the week, and our work paid off. Grace took 4th place, Brenna took 9th, and Kayla took 10th along with the most improved award.
Thank you to our FFA advisor Mr. Krebs for sending us to Range Camp. It was an amazing experience and a very fun way to broaden our range knowledge. For we FFA members are learning to do, doing to learn, earning to live, and living to serve. (FFA Motto)
