Weather delays New England Lions’ Night at the Races

Post time has been pushed back for the annual Night at the Races, due to inclement weather.

Staff Report

After a strong snowstorm brought more than eight inches to northern Hettinger County and closed many of the roads in the county, the New England Lions Club announced they were rescheduling the annual “A Night at the Races” until March 30 in the hopes of getting better weather. It was the second local benefit which has been affected by the region’s recent weather.Earlier, the 56th annual Oyster Stew and Meatball Dinner was postponed, then completely cancelled because of the weather. The race night will still be following the same timetable and schedule on March 30 that they had set up for March 9.The event is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. with a dinner. The dozen races will start after the dinner and will be followed by auctions.
