Local church serves up an italian meal for youth programs

The smell of garlic, spices and burning candles added an ambiance to the lower level of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Parosh Center Feb. 18 for more than 100 people.

It was for a good cause. The proceeds of the dinner would be going to the Faith Foundation youth activities at both the St. Mary’s and St. Elizabeth’s parishes, according to Fr. Gary Benz.

On the menu was Insalata Mista, Spaghetti Carbonara and tiramisu – with Fr. Benz in the kitchen nearby working to keep the meal coming for the guests.

“The turnout was very good, especially considering the weather,” he said as the dinner started to wind down. “I thought the turnout was amazing. We are very pleased.”

In addition, there was enough cooked up to feed all of the staff and volunteers who helped make the meal a success, Fr. Benz added.
