Rachel Grosz of Mott, N.D. won the NDFB Young Farmer and Rancher Discussion Meet at the Farm and Ranch Conference, Jan. 25-26, in Bismarck at the Ramada. The Discussion Meet is an exchange of ideas and information from participants on a predetermined topic.
“I’m so excited to have the opportunity to represent NDFB in the AFBF Discussion Meet,” said Grosz. “I’m eager to get the topics and start researching. I hope the board, staff, and past winners will indulge me in lots of mock discussion meets. I plan to meet with as many experts as I can, perhaps extension, NDFB members who have experience with a particular topic, or even leadership in agricultural organizations.”
Rachel and her husband Tyler have two children and ranch east of Mott, N.D. where they run commercial black cows. Her children are the sixth generation on the ranch.
“The discussion meet has always been on my ‘bucket list’ and this year I was able to take the opportunity to participate,” said Grosz.
Grosz took home a Polaris four-wheeler and will compete at the AFBF YF&R Discussion Meet January 17-22, in Austin, Texas.
This is the family’s first four-wheeler on the ranch. “We are pretty old school. We have always used horses to work around the ranch. It will be handy to buzz around on and check cows this spring,” said Grosz.
The final four participants in the discussion meet were Sheridan Visser of Reeder, Chris Holznagel of Sentinel Butte, Billy Ogdahl of Milnor and Rachel Grosz of Mott.
