Mott got off to a slow start in the first tound of the annual Roughrider basketball tournament Tuesday in Dickinson.
After falling behind by a 9-2 margin, it was Mott literally catching fire and rolling to a 71-49 victory.
Isaac Frey led the charge for Mott-Regent with 23 points as the co-op squad kept the pressure on the Tigers. He had help from Cody Perkin’s 22 points.
Mott-Regent rallied to take the lead befor the end of the first quarter, then expanded it in the second quarter when they had a 17-14 edge turn into a 32-26 halftime lead.
But it was in the second half when the Wildfire burned the Tigers the most.
Mott-Regent had a 22-13 edge in the third quarter 54-32 by the end of the period.
Jaxson Hewson had 15 points to lead the Tigers.
