Grant County pulls away from New England

The Grant County Coyotes jumped out to an early 19-2 lead Friday, leaving the New England Tigers far behind in their season opener.

By the end of the game, the lead had grown to 55-31, giving the visiting Coyotes the win.

The Tigers fell to 0-1 and will look to the week-long Roughrider tournament in Dickinson to find the team’s first win of the season.

Armed with a large 17-point lead, the Coyotes kept the pressure up with a 32-15 halftime lead.

The Coyotes held New England to just six points in the third quarter as the team but also were held to just nine points.

Aidan Rebel led the Tigers’ scoring with 15 points, while Jaxon Hewson, Michael Frank and Cooper Granger each had six.Logan Wolf scored two points in the game.

The Coyotes were led by Nathan Roth’s 13 first-half points

Raymond Zimmerman and Ethan Hoffman both finished the game with 10 points

Nathan Bien scored seven points seeing limited action off the bench, Connor Ottmar finished the game with six points,while Tyler Rekusek had two points.

After the tournament ends Saturday, the Tigers will host Beach Dec. 17 in a 7 p.m. contest.
