Pheasant hunting fun for 4-H

The Annual Hettinger county 4-H Youth Pheasant Hunt was held Sunday, November 4.  The hunt was the finish for the season of the 4-H summer shooting sports program in Hettinger County. Participating that day were 4 youth and 2 adults.  A quick safety lecture was given and the group headed out to the field to attempt some successful hunting. One bird was taken in the hunt and many more flew through the CRP land they were hunting. Following the hunt everyone went to the 4-H trap shooting grounds for a contest in trap shooting.  The divisions were junior, senior and adult.  After a 50 shot contest, the senior division, Teddy Mayer came out on top with a score of 44. Jamison Johnson and Jakob Friedt tied for second with a score of 40. In the junior group Jonathin Friedt placed first with a score of  27 The adult division was a 25 shot contest. Randy Friedt and Darwyn Mayer tied for first. Following a shoot off Randy came out on top. Trophies went to the youth winners and the adult winner was presented with a steak dinner to The Pheasant.

The Hettinger County 4-H Shooting Sports Program has been a great opportunity for youth to hone their hunting skills and have a lot of safe family fun.  To this end, we, of the Hettinger County 4-H program would like to say thank you those who have supported us through the year of 2018. M.O.T.T., ND Game & Fish,  Steve Sloan, Ben Auch, and Darwyn Mayer.
