Tigers hit the road, host Wildfire

New England will be back in action Oct. 23 when the volleyball team travels to Hazen to try to rebound from a recent loss to Flasher.

The Tigers will be back home Thursday (Oct. 25) when they host the Mott- Regent Wildfire in a 6:30 p.m. contest which will conclude the regular season.

The Region 7 tournament will start Nov. 2 at Dickinson Trinity High School and run through Nov. 8, with the top teams earning a spot in the state Class B tournament in Minot, which will start Nov. 15 at the Minot

State Dome.

The Tigers will be heading to Hazen with a 4-5 recond in Region 7 competition, just ahead of the Bison (3-6).

Going into the final week of regional competition, Dickinson Trinity is undefeated with a 9-0 record (30-5-1 overall), ahead of Hettinger-Scranton (6-1) and Heart River (5-1).

Bowman County is fourth in the standings with a 6-2 record, a half-game ahead of Killdeer (5-1).

Richardton-Taylor is tied for sixth place with New England in the regional standings, both at 4-5 in the Region 7 play.

After dropping 3-0 sweeps Oct. 6 at Dickinson Trinity to the Titans and Heart River as part of a non-league jamboree, the Tigers have bounced back with 3-0 sweeps over Beulah and Glen Ullin/Hebron, before dropping a 3-1 decision to Flasher (Oct. 12).

Miners buried

In a 3-0 sweep of the Miners, one thing was certain. Senior Elizabeth Kaufman led the team in kills and digs.

When asked about the victory, Kaufman said “Every one of us came out ready to play from point one until the last point of the game.”

The Tigers started off fast with a 25-20 win, then followed that success with 25- 17 and 25-22 wins to clean sweep the Miners.

Kaufman had seven kills and 19 digs.

Emily Dinius had 23 assists.

Jersey Binstock and Shelley Kathrein both finished with six kills. Binstock added two blocks, while Kathrein logged 17 digs.

Tigers tear up Bearcats

Sebella Sorenson led the Tigers to a 3-0 sweep over Glen Ullin/Hebron’s Bearcats Oct. 11 at home in New England.

Sorenson finished with eight kills in the 25-16, 25-13 and 25-23 win.

Kathrein and Kaufman each finished with six kills in the contest.

Kaufman and Kathrein also finished with 21 and 20 digs, respectively. Binstock added 16 digs.

Dinius added 26 assists.

Flasher stops Tigers, 3-1

Flasher won a 3-1 decision over New England in spite of a 27-dig effort by Kathrein. Angel Erickson added 22 more and Kaufman added 19.

Dinius finished with 23 assists in the loss.

Both Kathrein and Dinus had three aces.

Binstock had seven kills, while Sorenson had six and both Kaufman and Erickson finished
