Storm extinguishes Wildfire in finale shutout

The Mott/Regent/New England football team closed out the 2018 season Friday (Oct. 5) on the short end of an 18-0 shutout.

Playing at Mott Field, it was the Storm starting out fast, scoring all 18 points in the first half.

The visitors scored twice in the first quarter on long runs.

Junior Joseph Leingang was the first to storm into the end zone, from 63 yards out.

Connor Ottmar was next getting 51 of his t8 total yards on one rushing play for the team’s second score.

Garrett Hatzenbuhler scored the final touchdown on a short run in the second quarter.

Leingang finished the game with five carries for 105 total yards.

Tate Nordby and Sam Huether led the Wildfire rushing attack 13 carries each. Nordby finished with 51 yards, while Huether had 65 yards.

The Wildfire finished the year with a 1-7 regional record. The team had a 36-0 victory in the season opener, beating Tioga on the road.

The team followed the win with seven straight losses
