American legion supports veteran voucher program

The American Legion Anton Ulijohn Post 66 from New England presented a check to the District 8 American Legion Riders to support the Veteran Voucher Program.

The Veteran Voucher program allows veterans to ride The Dickinson Public Transit free within the city limits of Dickinson for free.

This program is in its 3rd year, and continues to be successful through donations from local business, organizations, and individuals who have been passionate about helping the veterans in the community. The program is overseen by the Stark/Hettinger/Billings County Veteran Service Officer, Jessica Clifton, who ensures that veterans who are in need of a ride, to and from medical appointments, job interviews, or simply need to go to the grocery store, are able to obtain a Veteran Voucher coupon through the office. The purpose of the program is to serve those veterans that served for us by defending our countries freedom.

The District 8 American Legion Riders Chapter has recently re-organized under The American Legion Post 66, in order to support all veterans in Southwest ND which allows the Riders to be affiliated with veterans in all of the rural communities in Southwest ND.
