Curtis J. Olson, age 71 of Regent, passed away early Wednesday morning, Aug. 16, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society in Mott. Per his wishes, his body will be donated to science.
The Memorial Service for Curtis was held at 1:00 p.m. MT on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017 at the Ulmer-Zich American Legion in Regent.
Curtis James Olson was born on September 12, 1945 in New England, N.D. to Oliver J. and Dorothy F. (McDowell) Olson. He grew up on the Olson farm southeast of Regent. He attended a local country school and high school in Regent.
Curtis attended college in Wahpeton, N.D., studying mechanics. After his schooling, he returned home where he began farming with his Dad, later on taking over the farming operation.
Curtis spent his winters for 14 years traveling with best friends Dave Schauer and Kenneth Kouba to warmer climates. Curt’s nephew, Keith Kihle helped him with farming for eight years.
In 1987, he was blessed in marriage to Carleen Friedt. They continued farming together for the next 25 years. He retired from farming in 2012. Curt and Carleen then moved to town (Regent). He enjoyed spending time with his coffee buddies at the Regent Garage. He loved Regent and the people in the community. Curt loved his wife Carleen. She was everything to him and he loved life and lived it to the fullest.
Surviving family members include his wife, Carleen, Regent; sister, Verla (Galen) Kihle, in Minnesota; nephew, Keith (Janna) Kihle and their family, Kayla (Charlie) Frank and Brooklyn; nephew, Ethan Kihle, nephew Bryan (Darcy) and their family, Allyson, Kelsey, and Luke.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
