Library News Mott Public Library

School’s out and learning is put away until fall. Only, it is not. Learning never stops. Just the methods change.

The Mott Public Library is offering opportunities to beat the summer slump through the Build a Better World with STEAM Summer Reading Program. Activities have included building over-sized paper airplanes, towers, and now birdhouses. The activities provide hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts and math experiences.

Birdhouse building this week began with a lesson on how to respect and use building tools (technology), accurate measurement (math), reading patterns and following directions to achieve the optimal results. There was a little hard work involved, too. Sawing a 1” x 6” board is no easy task for first timers. This birdhouse only needs 6 cuts though, and we will be assembling in no time. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers. You are AWESOME.

Thank you to everyone who turned out for the Burgers in the Park Fundraiser, and the Hwy 21 Treasure Hunt Book Sale. Many thanks to those who donated large numbers of books to the sales. Our programs are only possible with your support. Join us for Waffle Wednesdays at noon each Wednesday. Children eat free, adults are encouraged to make a free will offering.
