Dorlyn Roger Held, 75, formerly of New England, passed away at the Golden Living Center in Moorhead, Minn. on March 8 2017, due to heart complications.

Dorlyn Roger Held, 75, formerly of New England, passed away at the Golden Living Center in Moorhead, Minn. on March 8 2017, due to heart complications. Dorlyn was born at the Mandan Deaconess Hospital on Feb. 7, 1942 to Willmer and Olive (Timpe) Held of New Salem, N.D. He spent his school years there. After college, Dorlyn ventured west to New England, where he met and married his wife Beverly (Bunny) Braun and made their home in New England.

Dorlyn taught social studies at the New England Public School for several years. Then, it was off to the briquetting plant in Dickinson and he enjoyed his time there until the plant closed. Dorlyn’s next job took him to LTV Steel Co. in New York Mills, Minn. for 28 years. He loved this area with all the lakes and fishing spots. During this time, Bunny and the girls remained in New England to finish their school and college.

Dorlyn is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Bunny, of New England; daughters Melissa Kate Held of Dickinson, and Jennifer Rebecca Stanley of Cedar Park, Texas; one son-in-law, Collis D. Stanley of Texas; one grandson, Grant Miller and wife Annie (Hauck) Miller of Belfield; sisters Linda Sorge of Washburn, N.D. and Kathy Held of Fargo; nephews Jess, Les, and Drew Sorge; nieces Janna, Lyndsey, and Marnie; and special friend Duane Wobig of New England.

Dorlyn’s surviving sisters and brother-in-laws:

Don Sorge of Washburn, N.D.; Ellen and Nick Lenhardt of New England; Dianne Sorenson of New England; Eileen and Larry Lechler of New England; and Larry and Valeria of Hettinger.

Dorlyn’s surviving nieces and nephews:

Curt and Penny Tooley with children Tahya and Tennille of Bismarck; Keane and Rachelle Hanson with children Kaine and Gabbi of New England; Lori and Randy Fitterer with children Garret and Gavin of New England; Kelly and Krissie Braun with children Annika, Christian, and Jenna of Dickinson; Christi Schultz with children Noah and Natalie of Hettinger; Reid and Jessica Sorenson with children Denit, Gabe, and Sebella of New England; Rauna and Eddie Maychrzak of Scranton; Amy and Rob Rayhorn with children Braden, Molly, and Maddie of New England; Bekki and Jeremy Fischer with Ace of New England; and Jill Lechler of New England.

Dorlyn was preceded in death by his grandparents of New Salem; parents Willmer and Olive Held of New Salem; brother-in-law Ron Sorenson of New England; nephew Stuart Lechler of New England; and his in-laws George and Margaret Braun of New England.

Dorlyn’s memorial service will be on April 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bougler Funeral Home at 123 10th St. S, Fargo, N.D.
