The new k-12 writing program, Step-Up to Writing, was implemented in the spring of 2016 at Mott-Regent. Karyn Chiapella, an English Teacher from Scranton, has been leading the staff in professional development in the area of writing. The school is working on collaborating classroom activities with this new writing curriculum. The Kindergarten and some ninth grade Family and Consumer Science students engaged in an activity together.

At the end of February, the two classes met and viewed four different Phy. Ed. games. The Kindergarten students chose the game they wanted to write about and had to come up with the skills and rules needed to play the game they picked. The 9th graders helped the Kindergarten students by writing and typing out the skills and rules the Kindergarten student had told them. The most popular game chosen was played during the Kindergarten gym class.
