Though the Mott-Regent Wildfire football team ended their season earlier than they had hoped, a few players stood out, and for their efforts this season they were recognized.

Five players were selected to the 2016 Western Roughrider All-Conference Team. The five selections were Brady Wegh, Hunter Koepplin, Josh Wallace, and Hunter Crist.

Three others were also selected as Honorable Mentions. Those selections were Aaron Roth, Teddy Mayer, and Cody Perkins.

Of the selections, Wegh is the only senior.

The Wildfire started out hot, winning their first three games and earning a top-five selection in the early 9-man football polls.

Already thin in numbers, the injuries started to pile up, and after week three suffered four straight losses to regional opponents antd missed the playoffs.

Mott-Regent will lose four players next year to graduation, but they should have a new crop of young players ready to step in along with the added numbers from New England with the start of the New England/Mott-Regent co-op set to begin next season.
