Two individuals in Hettinger County have been charged with felonies after a large amount of animals were recovered from their property. According to court documents, Mary and William Ziegler have both been charged with animal cruelty, a Class C Felony. Both were also given lesser charge of animal neglect, which is a Class A misdemeanor.

The Hettinger County Sheriff, along with the Regent Fire Department assisted in the animal recovery.

Hettinger County Sheriff Sarah Warner told the Herald that the investigation is ongoing, and couldn’t discuss many details of the case.

The animals have been sent to various shelters including Furry Friend (Bismarck-Mandan), Second Hand Paws (Glendive, Mont.), Bakken Paws (Dickinson) and two individuals in Mott.

If anyone would like to help, donations can be given to Hot Dog Pet Grooming, or to Lois Laches. Both in Mott.
