The New England Public Library ended another successful Summer Reading Program with a picnic at Lions Park on Aug. 4. All families of participants who earned stickers for reading during June and July enjoyed a meal of McDonalds burger, chips and drinks. An extra treat this year was ice cream donated by Bruce and Judy Bender. Each child received a bag of prizes from the library which included a new book. The prizes from McDonalds were given to lucky winners from each age group. The grand prize of a red mesh chair was won by Archer Covert.
The library will be having its annual Indian Taco supper fundraiser on September 10 during the Wheat Harvest celebration. They will be serving their delicious tacos at the Memorial Hall beginning at 5 p.m. The money earned help with extra expenses at the library. The board has decided the next project will be to replace all the windows in the building in the near future. If anyone would wish to make a donation for the windows contact a board member or the library.
Some new books on the shelf are: “Before the Fall” by Noah Hawley, “Truly Madly Guilty” by Liane Moriarity, “Forgive Me” by Daniel Palmer, “Night and Day” by Iris Johansen, and “Here’s To Us “ by Elin Hilderbrand.
