On June 6, 2016, eight students and one advisor loaded up a bus and set off for Fargo to attend the 87th Annual State FFA Convention.

As a now graduated senior of New England High School, the thought of this being a fellow classmate, Mason Petri, and my last FFA activity arose a few times throughout the week but was immediately pushed aside.  Little did I know when our advisor Mr. Krebs told me my sophomore year I had been nominated to be an officer, I thought to myself “No Way! FFA is lame!”  I slept on the thought and decided to try it, going outside my comfort zone.  Little did I know how much it would impact my life.  Not only did I learn parliamentary procedure, but broke out of a shell and have become the outgoing individual I am today.  I have met so many wonderful people, not to mention all the memories that have been made.  Big shout out to Mr. Krebs for making all this happen:  Thanks for everything.  I just want to say great job to everyone on a job well done and good luck to everyone in the future!  Now is where I leave you and let your new chapter reporter Eve Stegner do her job.

Hi!  I’m Eve Stegner and the first thing I’m going to say is I’m honored to be the new reporter for the New England FFA chapter.  Holding a position on the officer team has been a goal of mine ever since I started in the FFA chapter.  I’m very excited to see where these next few years will take me.  It wont’ be easy taking Alecia’s position because she is truly irreplaceable.  She played an important not only as a member of the officer team, but as a friend.  But of course Alecia is heading off to college this fall, and someone has to take over her responsibilities.  As the new chapter reporter I will do my best to keep the public informed on what is happening in the chapter.  With that said it is my job to tell you how the New England FFA members did at state convention.  It was a very successful year for the chapter thanks to all of the student’s hard work and determination.  In the Advanced Ag Mechanics CDE Mason Petri received a gold award and Levi Stegner received and gold award and placed 2nd place in the event.  In the Intermediate Ag Mechanics CDE Devin Wert received a gold award and placed 2nd place in the event.  In the Basic Ag Mechanics CDE Tate Nordby received a silver award.  The Small Animal Care team consisting of Alecia Turner, Levi Stegner, Tate Nordby, and Eve Stegner received a silver award.  Individually Alecia received a silver, Levi received a gold, Tate received a bronze and Eve received a silver award.  Dakota Bray earner a gold in the Courtesy Corps event.  Emily Ehlis received a silver in the Prepared Public Speaking event, and Eve Stegner received a silver in the Creed Speaking event.  Emily Ehlis received a gold award for her chapter Treasurer book, and Mason Petri received a bronze award in the Food Science CDE.  Alecia Turner and Emily Ehlis were the chapter delegates and helped to vote in the new officers for the year.  Again congratulations to all on a job well done and hope everyone has a great summer!
