Jeanette Glaser

Jeanette Glaser

JGlaserJeanette Glaser, age 94, of Mott, ND passed away on Saturday morning, June 25, 2016 at the Mott Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home, with her family at her side.
JEANETTE LUCILLE VANLISHOUT was born October 16, 1921 to Charles and Minnie (Auen) VanLishout on the family farm northeast of Mott, ND. As a young girl Jeanette attended a small country school 1 ½ miles from the farm, usually walking, unless too much snow meant a ride in the bobsled from her father. Growing everything on the farm, the children were expected to help. This developed a strong work ethic in Jeannette’s life.
Jeanette graduated from Mott High School in 1940 and went on to earn a Teaching
Degree in Dickinson, ND and was employed at the same country school she attended as a child. Little did she know the love of her life, Dan, was growing up on his family’s farm only 7 miles NW of the VanLishout farm.
Jeanette married Dan Glaser November 14, 1944 at St Vincent’s Catholic Church in Mott. Because of a blizzard that day, the wedding feast and dance were held a week later. The newlyweds moved into a two room sod house on a rented farmstead in Steiner Township midway between their family farms.   Some years later they purchased the Rochas Wolf farm just a mile away. This is where they raised their six children until moving into Mott in 1975. The farm is still operated by their son David.
Jeanette was a fantastic cook, providing meals for her family like fresh baked bread, served with butter churned in the basement, and homemade choke cherry jam. Vegetables were grown in her large garden, and chickens were a staple. Her donuts, pies, and caramel rolls were legendary. Jeanette could make the best soup from leftovers in the refrigerator. And according to Jim, her fried chicken was the best on the entire planet.
Jeannette passed from this life Saturday June 25, 2016 at the Mott Good Samaritan Home with family at her side.
Jeannette is survived by her children James, Joanne (Donn) Hoyt, David, Jane (Randy) Schaible, June (David) Grubb, and daughter- in-law Sandra (Welsch) Glaser; seven grandchildren, Jerry, Jackie, Janelle, Courtney, Katharine, Ryan and Kellen;  eight great-grandchildren, Dillon, Madison, Connor, Brady, Jaina, Lydia, Paxton and Grayson.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband Dan, her son John, son- in- law Donn Hoyt, and brothers, John and Harry VanLishout.
Jeanette will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
