Ellen L. Gion, 67, of Scottsbluff, Neb., passed away Thursday, Oct. 1, at her home with her family by her side.

Ellen L. Gion, 67, of Scottsbluff, Neb., passed away Thursday, Oct. 1, at her home with her family by her side.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Oct. 6, 2015 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff, with Father Vince Parsons officiating. Inurnment followed at the Fairview Cemetery Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Agnes Church, Prairie Haven Hospice, or the Festival of Hope. Ellen was born Dec. 6, 1947, in North Platte, Neb., to Lewis and Pauline (Krowartz) Triplett. She graduated from North Platte High School in 1966. She moved to Rapid City, SD, to attend college and there she met Lawrence Gion. They were married Aug. 31, 1968, in Rapid City. Their marriage was blessed with two sons. They lived in Rapid City until moving to Scottsbluff in 1977.

Ellen spent many years raising her family and later worked at Target and then First State Bank until she retired in 2014 due to her health.

Ellen is survived by her husband of 47 years, Larry; children, Jeff and Lisa and their children Allyson, Neb.; Ethan, and Trenton of Scottsbluff, Neb. and Greg and Sandy and their children Gavin, Dacia, and Silas of Mitchell, Neb.; brothers-in-law Dick Christensen of Issaquah, Wash. and Leonard (Mary) Gion of Kamuela, Hawaii; sisters-in-law Catherine Gion (Barry Morley) of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Mary (Gerald) Jahner of Mott, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Pauline Triplett of North Platte, Neb.; her husband’s parents Michael and Mary Gion of Regent, ND, and her sister, Pat Christensen of Bellingham, Wash..
