The New England Tigers Volleyball team hosted their first home game of the season on Thursday, September 3, as the Heart River Cougars came to town for a regional match up.

The Tiger Den was filled with spectators on both sides of the gym cheering on their teams, as the Tigers and Cougars battled back and forth until the very end with the match going into five sets.

Set one went to New England as the Lady Tigers came out to play and defeated the Cougars by two points. Since the Tigers needed to win the set by two points, the two teams battled back and forth with New England eventually coming out ahead with a score of 27 to 25.

Heart River fought back as they won the second set by five with a score of 25 to 20. The Tigers worked together as a team and swept set three with a score of 25 to 19. However with an early Cougars lead in set four, that made things difficult for New England to catch up. The Tigers started to fight back as they were down 14 to 23, and found some momentum and narrowed Heart River’s lead making the score 19 to 23. That was as close as New England was going to get to the Cougars lead and  Heart River came out ahead and won set four 25 to 19.

With the match tied 2-2, both teams realized with the game on the line, what it was going to take to win the final set. Despite another early Heart River lead, the lady Tigers kept working hard but fell short as Heart River won set five 15 to 10.

Haillee Kuske led the Tigers with 13 Kills and 5 Blocks while Jenna Ehlis had 10 Kills, and led the Lady Tigers with 6 Aces, and 27 Digs, Linzee Volk had 12 Kills, and 22 Digs. Paige Ehlis had 22 Digs, and 34 Assits, and Tori Jalbert had 2 Aces.
