Frances Fichter, 78, of New England, ND passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2015 at CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck.

A funeral Mass for Frances was held Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New England with Father Biju Chitteth celebrating. Burial took place in North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery, Mandan.

Frances was born Feb. 8, 1937 in rural Dickinson, the daughter of Joseph and Victoria (Kostelecky) Krehlik.  Growing up, she attended and graduated in a one-room country school in Ash Coulee. She later attended Dickinson State College and received her teaching degree.  Frances married Joseph Fichter on Aug. 25, 1958 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson.  The couple was blessed with four children, Wanda, Jonelle, Mary and Allen.  Frances taught in country schools in the New England area in the 60’s. She then became the bookkeeper for Joe’s Standard Service Station in New England, which Frances and Joe had purchased. They later bought the laundromat and the J & F Motel. They continued to own and operate the businesses until the early 1980’s.  Frances enjoyed crocheting, gardening, camping and fishing, traveling, spending time with her family and coffee with her friends.  Frances will be dearly missed.

Frances is survived by her children, Wanda Ott, Jonelle (Brian) Cavallero, Mary Roberts, and Allen (Lisa) Fichter; seven grandchildren, Cody Ott, Kristy Red Elk, Nancy Cavallero, Leonard Cavallero, Bryce, Brady, and Cole Fichter; four great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Aggie Krehlik.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Victoria; husband, Joseph-2007); siblings, Joseph Krehlik, Sylvia (Joe) Pavlicek, Martha Krehlik, Adolph Krehlik, Robert Krehlik, Aloysius Krehlik, Henry Krehlik, Victoria Krehlik, Helen Krehlik, Victor Krehlik; and sister-in-law, Stephanie Krehlik.
