Four individuals have made celebrating birthdays a group event. In Regent four gentlemen, who share the same birthday, have gathered each of the past few years to celebrate together the special day in July together.
Kasper Binstock (86), Roger Jesch (67), Freddy Geerts (84), and Jerry Jacobs (92) each have a birthday on July 18.
Starting about four years ago, the four individuals started the tradition after they discovered that they all were born on the same day. So they thought that it would be a good idea to get together and have a meal together.
A tradition was born.
So each year they pick a time and meet at the senior center in Regent for a birthday meal.
As the tradition goes, one person from the group buys the meal for everyone. And the next year someone else will purchase the food, and they move down the line until everyone has had the chance to treat the three others. Then they start over.
