Hazen downed Hettinger-Scranton 10-0 at Hazen on April 23 behind the 2-hit pitching of Connor Doll to remain undefeated in Region 8 baseball.  Brandon Pierce absorbed the loss.

On April 28 the Nighthawks came back to win their second game of the year as they downed Washburn-Wilton-Center-Stanton 5-3.  Braxon Yates took the mound for the Nighthawks and earned the pitching victory.  He was cruising along with a no-hitter for four and 2/3 innings when he ran into his only bad inning in the fifth.  After striking out the first hitter of the inning he walked the next batter who was then sacrificed to second base.  The next three hitters all singled and the fourth got on base via an error.  The last out of the inning was achieved as a Washburn runner was thrown out at the plate.  A total of three runs scored in the inning knotting the game up at 3-3.  The Nighthawks had previously scored one run in each of the first three innings.

The Nighthawks came back to score two runs in the fifth on one hit, the help of an error, the inattention of the first baseman and the heads up base running of Hudson Pierce and B. Pierce.

Yates went six innings giving up three hits, walking three and striking out seven and at one point retired nine in a row.  B. Pierce came in to pitch the final inning retiring all three batters with two strikeouts.  In the hitting department the Nighthawks only came up with three singles and a run scoring double by Jarad Mattis.

Attendance was not too bad as I would estimate 50-55 at the game.

The second game ended up in a 3-3 tie after five innings.
