Game 2: Oak Grove 70 MayPort-CG 58
MayPort-CG and Oak Grove kept it close until the fourth quarter when the defending state champs beat the Patriots 70-58. In the end free throws and 3-pointers gave the Grovers the edge in the contest.
At half MayPort-CG was only down by three points, and late in the third quarter had it all tied up at 40 a piece.
It was midway through the fourth quarter that Oak Grove started to pull away, at one point taking an 11-point lead before finishing off the Patriots by 12.
MayPort-CG shot 52 percent from the floor but fell below Oak Grove’s 41.7 percent at the 3-point line. The Grovers also shot nearly 90 percent at the free-throw line, finishing 14 for 16.
Leading scorer for MayPort-CG was Chadrin Johnson who put up 22 points. Leading rebounder for the Patriots was Alec Chandler who had nine.
Top scorer for the Grovers was Christian Adams with a game high 29 points. Adams also had a team leading nine rebounds.
Oak Grove will play Ruby tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. (CT) and MayPort-CG will play Parshall at 1 p.m. (CT).

Game 1: Rugby 80 Parshall 39
Rugby opened up the 2015 North Dakota Class B Basketball Tournament with a bang, beating Parshall 80-39.
The Panthers from Rugby made a statement early as they took a 29-6 lead after just one quarter. Rugby didn’t slow down and entered the halftime period with a commanding 49-12 lead.
The Braves from Parshall got refreshed at the halftime break and put up 19 points in the third quarter, outscoring the Panthers by one point. But it wasn’t enough and Rugby put the game away with a 13-point fourth quarter, advancing with a 41-point win.
Deyondre Simpson of Parshall led his team in scoring with an 19-point performance.
Tanner Bernhardt of Rugby led the Panthers in scoring with 22, followed by Brad Heidlebaugh who had 18.
Rugby will play the winner of Oak Grove and May-Port CG tomorrow. Parshall will play the loser of that same game.
