Joanne Pahlmeyer, 84, formerly of Regent, died Feb.10, 2015 in Beaverton, Ore.  A service will be held at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Portland, Ore. at a later date.  A memorial service is also planned for June 28, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Regent, ND.

Joanne Johnson was born May 6, 1930 in Milwaukee, Wisc. to Charles and Elsie (Henschen) Johnson. She grew up in Milwaukee and graduated from high school in 1948.

She attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, where she met her future husband, Harold Pahlmeyer. They were married in 1950 and spent the next few years in various places as Harold was in the US Air Force.  Joanne worked in a number of banks during this time. She and Harold settled north of Regent where they lived, operated the farm and raised their family.

She had a life-long passion of bringing order to numbers through bookkeeping.  She acted as bookkeeper or treasurer for a number of organizations including WIFE (Women Involved in Farm Economics), Regent Lutheran parish, Regent Fire District in addition to her personal and farm records.  She was active in her church (Zion Lutheran) as well as local and state homemakers club and was a 4-H leader.

Joanne was able to resume college studies later in life and graduated from Dickinson State College in 1975.  She was a voracious reader and accumulated a personal library of many mystery and science fiction books.

Joanne was an accomplished seamstress, making many clothes for herself and family.   She also enjoyed needlework especially cross-stitch and hardanger.    Many friends, neighbors and family members were blessed to receive a cross-stitch sampler marking special occasions such as weddings, anniversaries and birth announcements.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elsie (Henschen) Johnson and husband Harold. Joanne is survived by her son Charles and wife Jane with children Laura, Marie and Claire; daughter Susan and husband Clif Westin; brother-in-law, Roy Pahlmeyer and wife Jean and many other beloved extended family.

Memorials may be directed to Oak Grove Lutheran School, Fargo, ND or Zion Lutheran Church, Regent, ND.
