Free-throwers from Mott/Regent, New England place at the state level

Three kids from the area participated in the Elks Hoop Shoot free-throw contest at the state level on Jan. 17 in Jamestown.

Three kids from the area participated in the Elks Hoop Shoot free-throw contest at the state level on Jan. 17 inJamestown.

Representatives from around the state took their shots for the chance to move on to the regional portion of the competition which will be held at Rapid City, S.D. in March. First place shooters from North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana shoot against one another for the chance to head to the national competition.

Madison Rafferty from Mott/Regent took 3rd place, competing in the 10-11 year old age group.

From New England, Gabe Sorenson took third place in the 12-13 year old age group and Matthew Bock took fifth place in the 10-11 year old age group.

During the competition Bock and another girl shooter from Dickinson were honored during the competition. Each shooter made it all the way to the national level of the tournament last year.
