Sarah (Zimmerman) Luithle of Bismarck formerly of Mott, at the age of 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 14, 2014 at the Sanford Medical Center.

Sarah (Zimmerman) Luithle of Bismarck formerly of Mott, at the age of 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 14, 2014 at the Sanford Medical Center.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 22, at 1:00PM (MT) in the Neuburg UCC (Assembly of God Church) in Mott. The Reverend Edmund Zimmerman will be officiating with burial will be held in the Neuburg Cemetery, 15 miles North of Burt.

Serving as casketbearers are David Mees, Lloyd Zimmerman, Darrell Ottmar, Bob Zimmerman, Ron Schneider, Stan Zimmerman, Stanley Voll, and Harold Zimmerman.

Special music will be provided by Lyle Zimmerman.

Sarah Zimmerman was born on May 17th, 1926 in Elgin, ND to Gottlieb and Johanna (Schafer) Zimmerman. She lived on the family homestead about thirteen miles north of New Leipzig with her parents. She attended the Johannestal Elementary School and later earned her GED.

She was united in marriage to John Luithle on December 10th, 1946 at the Neuburg Congregational Church north of Burt, ND. They made their home on the land his father homesteaded in 1905, until 1989 when they retired. Upon retiring they moved to a place two miles north of Mott. Her husband John passed away on June 18, 1995 after 48 years of marriage.

At an early age, she learned to play the piano and organ by ear. For thirty years she was the organist at the UCC Church at Neuburg. She moved to Bismarck in the fall of 1998. Sarah volunteered at both the Medcenter One and St. Alexius Hospital gift shops, as well as, helping with many other things, among them, playing for their Church service, and playing the piano in an open atrium area so that the music could be heard on several floors above.

She translated German documents for visitors at the North Dakota Heritage Center. She knitted numerous hats for newborn infants at both Hospitals as well as helmet liners for the troops fighting the war in Afghanistan.

She eventually succumbed to a long struggle with leukemia, which for many years needed to be monitored and kept in check.

Surviving family members are, one brother and two sisters-in-law: Rubin and Ida Zimmerman, Carson, ND, Hilda (Herbert) Zimmerman, Woodland Lacey, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sarah was preceded in death by her husband John, four brothers: Rudolph, Theodore, Emmanuel, and Rev. Herbert. Also having passed were, three sisters: Johanna Scheerer, Freda Mehrer, and infant Martha Zimmerman.
