Helen Flath Harper was born to John and Lena Wolberg Flath in Stark county North Dakota on a farm some miles from New England, ND on November 26, 1928.

Helen spent her youth from the time she was born until she graduated from New England Public School on May 29, 1946.

She was married to James “Ed” Harper in Livingston, MT on May 14, 1948. They made their home in Glendive, MT until 1958. He worked for the railroad.

She worked in the treasurer’s office until she became employed with Livingston Cable TV in April of 1976. She retired in November of 1988.

Helen was a resident of Livingston for 47 years. Because of medical problems, Helen moved to Billings to live with her daughter, Suzy’s, family in July 2005.

She spent retirement playing cards, working in gardens and flowers, and watching hummingbirds at feeders.

She is survived by her five children –  David, Greg (Linda), Archie (Peggy), Cindy Hardy (Doug), and Suzy Gustin (Ted); five grandchildren; 3 step-granchildren; one sister Mary Ruckman of Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her sisters Mathilda Carlson and Kay Clark; an infant son; an infant brother; her brothers John and Jim; and her mother and father.

There will be a graveside service at 2pm on Monday, November 17th at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
