The Tigers from New England will play for 3rd place against the Dickinson Trinity Titans. After getting a bye in the first round of the Region 7 Tournament, the Tigers beat the Buccaneers from Beach three games to none.
Then came Beulah.
Ranked number one in the region, the Tigers were going after a team who had defeated them in the regular season.
The match started out shaky for the Tigers, as they found themselves down 11 points to two in the first game. It looked as though it would be a rough night for New England, but they did get a little wind in their sails and managed 13 points in that first game, but lost to the Miners.
After game one the Tigers made things very interesting for the semi-final matchup.
New England gained the lead with a score of two to one against Beulah, this was the first time on the evening the Tigers lead.
From that point on each game was neck and neck.
New England took game two with a score of 25-22.
Game three was tight from the start, though New England had the lead until both teams sat at 14 points each. With the lead going back and forth, it was the Miners who were victorious, beating New England by two points.
Game four was close too. After that first game the Tigers gave the Miners a challenge, and held Beulah close.
But Beulah would win the fourth game, and the contest. The final game was won by a score of 25-19.
Beulah will play Hazen for the Region 7 Championship.
New England will play Dickinson Trinity for a chance at third place. Both games will be held on Thursday, Nov. 13.
