The funeral service for Frank W. Vasey, age 92 of Mott, N.D. was held Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mott. Pastor Corey Warner officiated with burial in Sunnyslope Cemetery at Mott.
Special music was provided by Pat Schwartz, organist and MiChelle Finck, soloist
Serving as casketbearers were his seven grandchildren, David Schlosser, James Schlosser, Stephen Ross, Ryan Walker, Heidi Herrington-Gartner, Aaron Vasey, and Reed Vasey. Frank’s 9 great grandchildren, Megan and Kendra Schlosser, Candace and Max Schlosser, Jimmy and Benny Herrington, Halaina Walker, Seth and Luke Vasey, were considered honorary bearers.
Frank William Vasey was born May 23, 1922 in Hettinger County, N.D. He was one of six children born to Louis A. and Adah (Treon) Vasey. He grew up on the Vasey farm southeast of Mott and graduated from Mott Lincoln High School.
He was united in marriage to Regina Friez on January 2, 1943 in Mott. Frank and Regina continued farming on the Vasey farm where they raised their family. Three children, Janice, Karen, and Gary were born to this union.
They moved into Mott where Frank began working at the Mott Equity until his retirement. Frank and Regina moved to Bismarck where they lived for 12 years. His wife, Regina passed away on February 14, 2002. Frank continued to live in Bismarck until July of 2012 when he entered the Good Samaritan Society in Mott. He passed from this life there on Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Mott Good Samaritan Society.
In his earlier years, Frank enjoyed pitching horse shoes and bowling. He was a past mason and a member of the Mott Methodist Church and Mott Senior Citizens.
Surviving family members include his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Judy Vasey, Bismarck, N.D.; two daughters, Janice Ross, Bremen, N.D.; and Karen Vasey, Bismarck, N.D.; seven grandchildren, David (Mary) Schlosser, James Schlosser, Stephen Ross, Ryan (Kara) Walker, Heidi (Matt) Gartner, Aaron (Emily) Vasey, and Reed Vasey; nine great grandchildren, Megan and Kendra Schlosser, Candace and Max Schlosser, Jimmy and Benny Herrington, Halaina Walker, and Seth and Lucas Vasey; a sister-in-law, Joyce Vasey, Fargo, N.D.; a brother-in-law, Kenn Wanner, Hamilton, Mont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Regina; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Betty Wanner, Marge and Skeets Holloway, Etta Mae and Jim Leonard; and two brothers, Robert and Ed Vasey; and a son-in-law, Dwight Ross.
