A victim of some bad experiences, Stacy Kovaloff decided to take a stand and create better experiences for others. On May 13, in a newly constructed building on Main Street, she opened up Elegant Formals.

“We’ve had some bad luck,” Kovaloff said.

Kovaloff and her shop offer a wide range of elegant apparel. She carries a variety of wedding dresses including designer Moonlight Bridal. Right now Kovaloff is looking into other brands she can carry and give brides-to-be more choices.

To go along with bridal gowns, Elegant Formals also offers wedding jewelry and wedding shoes.

Her store isn’t just for women though. Kovaloff will offer tuxedo rentals for grooms and groomsmen.

Among her other services and products, Kovaloff will have birdesmaids dresses, prom dresses, other formal dresses, apparel for baptisms, and flower girl dresses. She also has books to flip through that customers can order from if she doesn’t have it in the store.

Right now she is looking into hiring a local person to do her alterations, but she does have the ability to send clothing away for adjustments.

Kovaloff is hoping that by opening Elegant Formals, it will give people of the area a place to shop, though there is one other bridal store in Dickinson, she said she could “maybe give customers a closer place than Bismarck.”

Located at 701 Main Street in New England, Elegant Formals is open six days a week. Monday through Friday she is open in the evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. On Saturdays her store hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and she is willing to take appointments on Sundays if needed.
