It was a relatively quick announcement on Perkins’ fate Tuesday night on NBC’s “The Voice” results show that followed her debut live performance the night before.
After a nationwide vote opened immediately after Monday’s live show, fans chose Perkins to join the top 10. She was the second contestant welcomed into that elite ten, with host Carson Daly reading off her name just minutes into the show.
“This is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. It’s a high pressure situation,” Perkins said leading to her performance. The Scranton native made the stage her own as she belted out her signature powerhouse vocals Monday when she performed Heart’s “Magic Man.” Perkins said Heart was her favorite band “of all time.”
Coach Adam Levine’s group performed with the Maroon 5 front man during Tuesday’s results show, performing a cover of “Sledgehammer” by Peter Gabriel.
“Kat’s voice is special because she can rise above and cut through any big arrangement musically,” coach Adam Levine said about her performance. “I can’t imagine giving this song to anyone else. She’s a true rock and roll singer.”
The live shows continue next week at 6 p.m. MDT April 28 and 29.
