Kat Perkins faced off Monday night in the second round of battles on NBC’s “The Voice.”

Prior to the battle, competing duo Dawn & Hawkes joined Perkins as they met guest mentor Chris Martin of British rock band Coldplay.

“I was so star struck,” Perkins said on air after meeting Martin.

In round two of the singing battles, where judges decide who performed better to move onto the next round, the three chose to perform “Suddenly I See” by KT Tunstall.

Perkins said it was a challenge singing against a duo, as her natural instinct is to “be two people.”

Just before heading onto the stage, Perkins let out her battle cry.

“I’m not going to go down without a fight,” she said.

As the song wrapped, Perkins trying to calm her nerves, country singer and judge Blake Shelton offered his take on the victor, who he named as Perkins. All three judges agreed, but the choice of which performer to send home was up to the singers’ mentor, Adam Levine.

“You’re one of the most underrated singers in this competition,” Levine said to Perkins. “If anybody could step up to this challenge, it would be you.”

And she did, he noted, sending Dawn & Hawkes home and moving Perkins into the playoffs.

“She’s a dangerous cocktail of talent and drive,” Levine said as Perkins excitedly exited the stage.

Watch NBC’s “The Voice” at 6 p.m. MDT on Mondays and Tuesdays.
