The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Assembly of God Church in Mott. Pastor John Amundson will officiate with burial in the Sunnsyslope Cemetery at Mott.
Special music will be provided by Lacy and Trish Schneider.
Serving as casketbearers are Tye Schneider, Lacey Schneider, Trish Schneider, Keith Hellman, Adam Fischer and Leland Fischer. All nieces and nephews are considered honorary bearers.
Irene Fischer was born July 6, 1933 in New Leipzig, N.D. to John and Elma (Heim) Fischer. She spent her childhood on a farm by New Leipzig, N.D. Irene completed the eighth grade of education in New Leipzig Public School. She helped on the family farm, worked at the Red Owl grocery store in New Leipzig and also babysat.
She was united in marriage to Juluis Bertsch Feb. 8, 1956 at Mott, N.D. They began their life together on the farm southwest of Burt, N.D. and raised their family there. Irene enjoyed the farm life, visiting friends when delivering cream and eggs, and crocheting. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren, playing cards, especially Pinochle, Kings Corner, and Rummy, and making home-made ice cream with family and friends. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Mott and after its closing, became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Geig Schneider of Hebron, N.D.; son, Kim Bertsch of Mott, N.D.; three grandchildren: Tye, Hebron, N.D.; Lacey (Brandon) Schneider, Woodworth, N.D. and Trish Schneider, Terry, Mont.; many foster grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara (Victor) Hellman, Monticello, Minn.; two brothers, Roy (Janet) Fischer, Belle Fouche, S.D. and Les (Annie) Fischer,Waconia, Minn.; sister-in-law Kay Fischer, Pierre, S.D.; brothers-in-law Marvin Marthaller, Dickinson, N.D. and Clifford Haas, Aberdeen, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Elma Fischer; her husband, Juluis; son, Jim; sisters, Esther Haas, Agnes Haas, Ida Marthaller and brother, Lester Fischer.
Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Mott was in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established.
