Beloved wife of the late Robert Holden and the late Delbert Podevels. Caring mother of Robert, Peter (Shelley) Holden, Joan (Chuck) Ullrich, Sandra (E.J.) Bialek, Cynthia Phelan and Rick Holden. Sister of the late Marvin Hagen. Also loved by 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, other relatives and friends.
Lorraine was born at home and raised in New England, N.D. surrounded by an extended, hardworking Norwegian family. She attended nurses training in Billings, Mont. where she met Robert “Bob” Holden, stationed during his Korean War tour of duty. She and Bob, a lineman for the power company, moved often during the next years living in Pennsylvania, Indiana, North Dakota, and finally Owen, Wisc., while raising their six children. Lorraine worked in many capacities as a nurse, extremely competent in all.
She remarried upon her husband’s death and resided for years in Abbotsford, Wisc., with Delbert Podevels. She was very active in the Lutheran church, playing organ and quilt making, as well as civic activities. Of her many attributes she is remembered most for her constant good cheer, graciousness, kindness, generosity, and subtle humor. She was truly loved by all whom she touched and will be greatly missed.
Lorraine was a Registered Nurse for more than 50 years. A special thank you to the caring staff of Vitas Hospice and Vitas Ruth Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Vitas Ruth Hospice.
