Verle Reinicke, 71, Bismarck, N.D. passed away July 12, 2013, in Rochester, Minn.
Services were held July 17, 2013 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. There will not be a burial service as Verle chose to donate his body to science. A memorial space will be set up in lieu of a casket. Funeral attendees were encouraged to bring sentimental items to be placed in this memorial space.
Verle was born April 30, 1942 in Waterloo, Iowa, to Vernon and Louisa Reinicke. He attended school in Grundy Center, Iowa. He graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, and Luther Theological Seminary in Saint Paul, Minn. He served as a Lutheran pastor for 40 years in North Dakota in congregations in Alamo, Bismarck, Riverdale, Regent, Minot and interim positions in other locations in North Dakota.
In his retirement, he was the chairman of the North Dakota Resource Council and was an active environmentalist. He was an avid reader, a theological scholar and an amateur photographer. He enjoyed classical music, opera and film.
Verle is survived by his four sons, Scott (Julie), Jeremy (Jennifer), Chris (Marea) and Justin; his brother, Lynn (Jan); his seven grandchildren, Abbey, Jaden, Braylee, Kyler, Katelyn, Alexis and Elyssa; and his most significant companion for 40 years, Linda.
Verle was preceded in death by his father and mother, Vernon and Louisa Reinicke.
The Reinicke family requests that memorial gifts be made in Verle’s name to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Luther Theological Seminary.
