Mass of Christian Burial was held July 9, 2013 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Bowman with Fr. John Heying celebrating. Burial followed in the Vessey Cemetery, Scranton, N.D.

Mary Louise Reitz was born July 7, 1939, in Reeder, N.D., to Arthur and Marguerite (Johnson) Reitz. Mary Lou was the oldest of four children and grew up on a farm near Ralph, S.D., about 28 miles southwest of Reeder. She attended grade school at Ralph. The family bought a house near New England, N.D., where Mary Lou attended high school. In 1958, upon graduation from St. Mary’s High School, she attended two years of college at Presentation College in Aberdeen, S.D., where she received her teaching certificate.

July 11, 1961, Mary Lou married her high school sweetheart, David Mollman, in a ceremony at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Ralph. They moved to Bowman for a short time and Mary Lou taught school north of town. They started a family and moved to Ralph, where they worked and lived on the Reitz family farm. Mary Lou substitute taught at the Ralph school.

In 1968, Mary Lou and David purchased land 12 miles to the west near Ludlow, S.D. They raised their family of seven children on this farm and lived there the remainder of their lives.

Mary Lou was an active member of the School Board, Election Board, Bookmobile Board, St. Isidore Altar Society, Catholic Daughters and the Home Makers Club. She loved gardening, collecting books, doing puzzles, knitting and sewing. Most of all, she loved her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also cherished her neighbors and always enjoyed coffee with them with lots of laughs included.

Mary Lou was known for her sour milk pancakes, French pancakes and her goulash. She knitted over 100 Christmas stockings as gifts for the babies of family and friends. Mary Lou will be greatly missed by her family, friends and community.

Mary Lou is preceded in death by her husband, David, and her son, Stewart.

Mary Lou is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Tim) Lewton of Bowman, N.D., Laura (Dick) Hosford of Birney, Mont., and Terisa (Mack) Thompson of Buffalo, S.D.; sons, Mark Mollman of Ludlow, S.D., Christopher Mollman of Scranton, N.D. and Craig (Joyclyn) Mollman of Ludlow, S.D.; sisters, Rita Andrews of Bowman, N.D. and Jan Farris of Bowman, N.D.; brother, Curtis Reitz of Bismarck, N.D.; 18 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
