Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, March 18, 2013 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marmarth, N.D. Fr. David Morman officiated with burial following in the Riverside Cemetery, Marmarth.

Janice Opal Berg was born on September 11, 1926 in Baker, Mon. to Herman and Edith Boyce Berg. She grew up near Rhame, N.D. and attended grade school at Harper Country School and Rhame High School. She worked as a waitress and in a dress shop prior to marrying Theron (Zook) Childers on December 28, 1949 in Marmarth and they resided there most of their married life. They also lived in Haynes, N.D. for 6 years where Zook was the Depot Agent. Janice enjoyed her time as a waitress at Mert’s Café in Marmarth and working as a Flagman on Road Construction. Janice was a spirited individual who loved to play cards, visit at the café and she loved little children. She cherished her time with Mattie Mastel whom she watched after school. They had many adventures together.

She is survived by her sister, Ada Heinrich; sister-in-law Alda Berg, sister-in-law, Betty Cottrell; daughte,r Juanita (Nita) Donohue and son-in-law Adlai Donohue, Harwood, N.D. and her son .Sidney (Sid) Childers, Marmarth, ND. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Curt Donohue and his wife Cindy Westminister, Colo., Jess Donohue and her husband Lee Bullis, Argusville, N.D. and Cole Donohue, Billings, Mont. She has six grandchildren, Brenden Donohue, Bainville, Minn., Clay, Ashton and Chaz Donohue, Glasgow, Mont. and Camden and Theta Bullis, Argusville, N.D.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Zook Childers; son, David Childers; an infant daughter; parents, Herman and Edith Berg and brothers, Harold Berg, Fred Berg, and Clifford Berg.
