Mass of Christian Burial for Sebastian was held March 7, 2013 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Regent, N.D. Monsignor Chad Gion officiated and burial followed at the Regent Cemetery.

Sebastian was born at home July 31, 1946 in McIntosh County to Sebastian and Katherine (Braun) Meier. He received his education at Zeeland, N.D. After working for area farmers he went to work as a heavy equipment operator for Moos Construction in Bismarck, N.D. He made the move to Regent with the company, where he met and married his wife Charlotte Miller Sept 5, 1970 at St. Patrick’s Church in Dickinson, N.D. To this union they were blessed with three children.

After having done some soil conservation work on an area farm, his love for farming became fulfilled when an opportunity to purchase the farm came up in 1975. They moved northeast of Regent and called it home. Seb never got tired of the aroma of freshly turned earth, and felt proud to be doing his part to grow food for this country. His favorite time of the year was harvesting the fruits of his labor. He operated one of Hettinger County’s first confinement pork operations. He prided himself in raising quality pork. For his efforts he received N.D.’s Master Pork Producer Award; and in 1986 he was honored with the prestigious Pork All-American Award. He was active in St. Henry’s KC Club as a 3rd Degree Knight. He served on the regional board and state board of the N.D. Pork Producers. He helped many further their endeavors in raising pork. With his strong German work ethic, putting in long hours was second nature. He enjoyed visiting with family, friends, and playing cards.

He will remain in the hearts forever of his surviving family: wife of 42 years, Charlotte (Miller) Meier; sons, Gregory of Dickinson, N.D. and Brian (Janell) of Fargo, N.D.; daughter, Carmel (Chris Hardison) of Fargo, N.D.; his father, Sebastian Meier, Sr. of Zeeland, N.D.; brothers, Alvin (Darlene) of Dickinson, N.D., Magnus (Grace) of Hettinger, N.D., Joe (Jill) of Bismarck, N.D. and Gerard (Dorothy) of Zeeland, N.D.; and sisters, Katherine (Victor) Geiger of Mandan, N.D., Sara (Rodney) Heiser of Aberdeen, S.D. and Rita (Terry) Bisbee of Hutchinson, Minn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Katherine.

Evanson Jensen Funeral Home, Mott, N.D. was in charge of arrangements.
