Ione J. Kjos was the first of five children born to Edward and Edna (Husby) Kjos at Mott, N.D. She was very active in her church and served as President of the Legion Auxiliary for several years. She was noted for doing volunteer work with the Auxiliary, the nursing home, the church, and wherever there was a need. She was a charter member of the Mott Evangelical Church in Mott. In 1946 she took nurses training and was awarded a qualification of “trained practical nurse.” Ione worked for many years for the John Swindler family and they became her extended family. Having never finished school, many years later she fulfilled her desire to have a high school diploma by taking the Basic Education Course and received her degree and pin in 1979. She was well known for making quilts and many other crafts.

Ione is survived by her brother Donald (Vi) Kjos, Spearman, Texas, and sister Twila Hawn of Mott, N.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Edna Kjos; brother, Richard; sister, Olive, and niece, Melody Hawn.
