Mary F. Hochhalter, 88, of Bowman, N.D. died Sept. 25, 2012 at the Southwest Healthcare Long Term Center in Bowman.

Mary F. Hochhalter, 88, of Bowman, N.D. died Sept. 25, 2012 at the Southwest Healthcare Long Term Center in Bowman.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Sept. 28, 2012 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Bowman. Fr. David Morman celebrated the Mass and burial followed in the Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, S.D.

Mary Frances Wolf was born on Aug.16, 1924 in Mott, N.D., the daughter of Jerome and Theresa (Senn) Wolf. She received her education at Steiner School District, Mott High School and Hairdressing School in Bismarck. Mary was united in marriage to Edward Hochhalter May 7, 1946 in the St. Placidus Catholic Church in Mott. After their marriage, Ed and Mary moved to the state of Washington for a short time until returning to North Dakota where they lived in New Salem, N.D. While in New Salem, Mary worked for a beauty shop fixing hair. In 1948, Ed and Mary moved to Bowman where they owned and operated the Carter Service Station and Bulk Service. They also built and operated the Bowman Motel with Ed’s brother Art. In the late 1960’s, Mary purchased the Classic Beauty Salon from Marcine Mosbrucker and operated the Salon until later selling it to Marie Johnson. Mary also purchased the Village Boutique and operated the women’s clothing store with the salon. Mary was an avid bowler, golfer and bridge player. She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Ed and Mary enjoyed traveling to Europe, Africa and Hawaii. For several winters they spent their time in Lake Havasu, Ariz. with family and friends. In February of 2008 Mary moved into the Southwest Healthcare Long Term Center.

She is survived by her sons, Dale and Marcia Hochhalter of Bowman, N.D. and Alan and Kim Hochhalter of Fargo, N.D., son-in-law, Tom Williams; grandchildren, Stacy (Kenny) Chadwick, Angie Hochhalter, Laura (Ben) Phillip, Matthew Hochhalter, Samantha, Kasey and Anna Hochhalter; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Dylan Chadwick, Xander, Linden and Brannock Phillip; sister Marge Reichert; brother, Hank Wolf; brothers-in-law, Hank Glasser and Lee Steiner and sister-in-law, Shirley Wolf.

Mary was preceeded in death by her husband, Ed; parents, Jerome and Theresa; daughter, Lottie Williams; brothers, Joe, Victor, Eigitius and Alvin Wolf; sisters, Magdeline Steiner and Rose Glasser.
